History and Progress

Do you ever think back on where you've been in life, then fast foward to where you are currently and completely trip out?

In that same vein, do you ever wonder why certain people are in your life now that wouldn't have been earlier on?

What's that about?

When you find someone who loves and wants to spend the rest of their life with you, you probably shouldn't worry about what people at your high school reunion are going to think of this person, or you for bringing them. Odds are, you haven't spoken to any high school peers since graduating.

I often wonder how my life would be effected if just one choice had been different.

I'm horrible at keeping in touch with people and didn't manage to stay connected to anyone from high school or junior college for that matter. I can't even seem to stay close with family (I'm horrible... I know.) So now, things in life seem to be changing dramatically and I continue to grow and move further and further away from my past.

I've declared 2008 my year! In doing that, I go into this year with purpose and action.

So my first call of action is to reach back into my history and bring it to my present. Sounds a little crazy, right?

It's simple. Know all of those good memories you have? Think how nice it'd be if you could reminisce with the people you created those times with.

I have a favorite cousin who I haven't seen or spoken to since I was at least 18. Fast forward 10 years and she lives in Australia with a husband I've never met and know nothing about. Can you believe I found all of this out by searching for her on MySpace? Just think, I could be blogging about my Australia vacation instead of this.

Memories are important. Your past is one of the greatest teachers. Take it with you and when appropriate, let it guide your decisions.

PEACE

Transformation

Alright... I haven't blogged in a while. Sometimes I just don't care to share. But TODAY is the day. I've had a transformation in the past year. The short story is, I quit my entry level corporate salary as a way to prevent depression, but became depressed anyway. I lied to everyone about how I was feeling and stayed in bed for a good 3 months. After being discovered, I encountered a whirlwind of individuals more interested in hating on me rather than helping me help myself. Always stubborn, I simply dropped these supposed friends and went about my denial. I don't recall at what point I realized who my real friends were, but somewhere amidst the chaos, I was given immense amounts of love from different directions and from people whom I wouldn't have guessed were capable. I do, however, recall the moment of breakthrough. I was sitting in my car, at the beach... smoking, planning to play my guitar in the backseat when the phone rang. I won't mention any n...

Divided We Fail

It's been awhile since my last blog.  As I type, I'm trying to figure out just what to say.  So much is going on in the world now and I feel a responsibility to people, strangers I'd probably never meet outside of my own pursuits. Haiti. This is not a "You should feel sorry & donate here" blog.  The truth is, each of us must search our own conscious to realize what we can & are willing to do.  Some will do nothing, & some will do everything.  I hope we can all take time out to view what's happening, and see past deception.  Past the chaos in our hemisphere. Hopefully, we are moved in some way. Hopefully our natural fight or flight senses are not dulled by what we've already seen on TV.  And if so, Hopefully we rediscover our true integrity and realize we have a part in it all. Our personal lives are finite to the world at large, and even finer if you believe in a higher power.  Everything living is made up of the same mole...
