Its bigger than us.

Emotions can sometimes be too much to deal with. They can stop your day, preventing you from dreaming and living with vibrancy. You get stuck in the loneliness of your own negativity, irrationally expecting others to grant comfort, only to become resentful when they don't. This is no way to live. It seems now, our duty as humans is to manifest the lives we want to live, while being mindful of what effect we have on those we come into contact with. Through my own need to evolve and live happier, and as a result of countless embarrassing experiences, I've committed to a concept I call "fight the feelings." Essentially, as soon as I am aware that I am speaking or thinking negatively, I immediately transform those negative thoughts into more positive and productive ones. Stream of conscious writing, prayer, meditation, exercise, flow... It has a lot of names. Focus puts it all in perspective for me. You can attain everything you want if you just stay focused. Quincy Jones on Michael Jackson - SXSW Music 2009

Other than family, I can't think of any other person more suitable to speak on the creative legacy of Michael Jackson. Quincy Jones has an unparalleled legacy of his own, and the two together were definitely a force in the entertainment industry. I appreciate how the art of music is/was most important to the success of both their careers; A concept muted in many of today's new "artists." Although tragic for most, Michael's death and the resulting attention to his catalog appears to have intensified the discussion about our lack of well crafted mainstream urban music. I can truly appreciate all of the new YouTube tributes featuring original rearrangements of MJ tunes. I have faith that they are an indication of great things to come.
