Quincy Jones on Michael Jackson - SXSW Music 2009

Other than family, I can't think of any other person more suitable to speak on the creative legacy of Michael Jackson. Quincy Jones has an unparalleled legacy of his own, and the two together were definitely a force in the entertainment industry. I appreciate how the art of music is/was most important to the success of both their careers; A concept muted in many of today's new "artists."

Although tragic for most, Michael's death and the resulting attention to his catalog appears to have intensified the discussion about our lack of well crafted mainstream urban music. I can truly appreciate all of the new YouTube tributes featuring original rearrangements of MJ tunes. I have faith that they are an indication of great things to come.

This is not a "You should feel sorry & donate here" blog.  The truth is, each of us must search our own conscious to realize what we can & are willing to do.  Some will do nothing, & some will do everything.  I hope we can all take time out to view what's happening, and see past deception.  Past the chaos in our hemisphere. Hopefully, we are moved in some way. Hopefully our natural fight or flight senses are not dulled by what we've already seen on TV.  And if so, Hopefully we rediscover our true integrity and realize we have a part in it all. Our personal lives are finite to the world at large, and even finer if you believe in a higher power.  Everything living is made up of the same mole...
