Around the World... from Home.

It's the second month, of the second year existing in a world with society shut down.  I've just remembered this blog account exists, so posting to it is one of a few ways I'm preoccupying my mind today.   As I type, I'm tuned into  Radio Garden  -- perhaps the greatest thing to cross my social feeds this year (It's early February, I remain hopeful there will be more great things.)  Radio Garden connects users to live radio station broadcasts from points around the globe with just a scroll & click.  As a person who can't travel, but thoroughly enjoys getting lost in foreign places, hearing these stations is gold!  I've saved some favorites from parts around India, Kenya, New Zealand and New Calédonia.   Noumea, New Calédonia was never on my radar before, but now I can experience it with my ears, and zoom all the way in to the street.  Good thing I learned some French, because it's luxurious and I've added it to my travel bucket list for w...

On With Wine: 2008 Mysterium

Much like wine, I continue to enjoy my life abundantly more with each new inspiring topic, of which to explore.   I have a passion for cooking delicious meals, and during my undergrad began an exploration of wine pairing.  My intention was to further delve into the culture of growth and production, in order to knowledgeably chose great wine with meals.   So, I read some books and joined a wine club, receiving four different bottles of wine a month.  As one might assume from any college student, I drank with utter disregard for quality or true knowledge of what I was drinking. Yet, while failing to appreciate the wine, I was able to learn a couple positive things from the experience.  I gained a general knowledge of wine types and their flavors, and experienced different degrees of quality expressed through texture, smell and overall taste.   Now, during my grad studies, and for my second adventure through wine appreciation, I'd like to delv...

Divided We Fail

It's been awhile since my last blog.  As I type, I'm trying to figure out just what to say.  So much is going on in the world now and I feel a responsibility to people, strangers I'd probably never meet outside of my own pursuits. Haiti. This is not a "You should feel sorry & donate here" blog.  The truth is, each of us must search our own conscious to realize what we can & are willing to do.  Some will do nothing, & some will do everything.  I hope we can all take time out to view what's happening, and see past deception.  Past the chaos in our hemisphere. Hopefully, we are moved in some way. Hopefully our natural fight or flight senses are not dulled by what we've already seen on TV.  And if so, Hopefully we rediscover our true integrity and realize we have a part in it all. Our personal lives are finite to the world at large, and even finer if you believe in a higher power.  Everything living is made up of the same mole...

Its bigger than us.

Emotions can sometimes be too much to deal with. They can stop your day, preventing you from dreaming and living with vibrancy. You get stuck in the loneliness of your own negativity, irrationally expecting others to grant comfort, only to become resentful when they don't. This is no way to live. It seems now, our duty as humans is to manifest the lives we want to live, while being mindful of what effect we have on those we come into contact with. Through my own need to evolve and live happier, and as a result of countless embarrassing experiences, I've committed to a concept I call "fight the feelings." Essentially, as soon as I am aware that I am speaking or thinking negatively, I immediately transform those negative thoughts into more positive and productive ones. Stream of conscious writing, prayer, meditation, exercise, flow... It has a lot of names. Focus puts it all in perspective for me. You can attain everything you want if you just stay focused. Feeli...
