Much like wine, I continue to enjoy my life abundantly more with each new inspiring topic, of which to explore.
I have a passion for cooking delicious meals, and during my undergrad began an exploration of wine pairing. My intention was to further delve into the culture of growth and production, in order to knowledgeably chose great wine with meals.
So, I read some books and joined a wine club, receiving four different bottles of wine a month. As one might assume from any college student, I drank with utter disregard for quality or true knowledge of what I was drinking.
Yet, while failing to appreciate the wine, I was able to learn a couple positive things from the experience. I gained a general knowledge of wine types and their flavors, and experienced different degrees of quality expressed through texture, smell and overall taste.
Now, during my grad studies, and for my second adventure through wine appreciation, I'd like to delve much deeper, by exploring each bottle independently.
With the help of my new friends at The Wine Closet, I will be tasting, researching, and notating my experience with various wines, one bottle at a time.

| Trinitas 2008 Mysterium Red |
Blends of red wine are, at the moment, most pleasing to my palette. So, I will begin this new journey with Trinitas 2008 Mysterium California Red Wine. (Please follow the link for wine specs and Vineyard details.)
The Mysterium was recommended to me based on my request for a sweeter wine.
Color: I was immediately impressed with this dark burgandy, with an almost lavendar pour.
Smell: Intense fruity aroma. I would place the aroma near a dark berry fruit, or cherry.
Taste: Not an incredibly sweet taste. My first taste impression suggested a nuttiness flavor, that later delivered a bit more berry
Finish: Very light finish, not much lingering flavor for me.
Overall: A win! Great with grilled or baked chicken & a sweet, peppery BBQ sauce, mild caesar salad, and sweet corn. Add a delicate, berry dessert and feel free to enjoy this through the evening.
